~PALMBREZELN (SWEET PRETZELS)~



These kinds of sweet pretzels are typically for the south of Germany. They are usually only eaten around Easter time. In my family, we normally eat them with chocolate eggs for breakfast on Palm Sunday. It has always been one of my favorite breakfasts in the year... just imagine waking up and eating as much sweets as you want :D


Ingredients for the dough:
- 40 g yeast
- 200 ml warm milk
- 100 g sugar
- 80 g soft butter
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp salt




Preparation:

  1. Stir the yeast and the warm milk together until dissolved. Beat in sugar, butter, salt and the egg until it is well combined. Then add the flour and knead the dough till it is one smooth and elastic mass.
  2. Let the dough rise covered for 45 min

  4. Let the pretzels rest 12-20 min. Then spread them with a little bit of egg. 
  5. Bake the pretzels in the preheated oven at 180°C for ca. 10-15 min. Serve them with whatever you want (Nutella, jam, butter, honey, peanut butter, chocolate,..). Enjoy!
